Canada's Sunshine Re-Opening For Rare Summerski Fortnight

Canada's Banff Sunshine Village will open for a rare spell of summer skiing from June 20. The resort's Strawberry Express chairlift will run throughout the summer window, with the Standish chair also operating so long as snow conditions remain good and the resort plans to add a Summer Strawberry Terrain Park.

Australia's ski season has started albeit with warm, wet weather and limited Southern Hemisphere terrain, while Northern Hemisphere glacier and summer ski areas continue to operate.

New survey shows 91% of Skiers and Snowboarders now wear helmets

[b]Helmet use among US skiers and snowboarders has reached an all-time high, according to the 2024/25 data from the National Ski Areas Association.

The NSAA report that 91% of participants now wear helmets on the slopes, up from just 25% in the 2002/03 season, highlighting a dramatic shift in snowsports safety culture over the past two decades.

New FIS President & First Ever British Representative on Council

It has been an exciting day for ski racing fans with the world's governing body, the International Ski & Snowboard Federation (FIS), electing a new president, as well as a new FIS Council which includes Britain's first ever representative.

Alexander Ospelt from Liechtenstein won the presidency election by a razor sharp 65 to 64 votes. Meanwhile GB Snowsport Chief Executive, Victoria Gosling OBE was elected to the FIS Council as a representative of Britain, the first time Britain's National Ski Association has held an elected role on the body.
