A new Mountain Film Festival launches in the UK for the first time this November.
Known as 'Mountains on Stage' and originally launched in France three years ago, the festival aims to bring an exciting and varied mix of winter mountain films.
Each evening will see four films shown, varying in length, each exploring winter in the mountains – from freeride skiing to dog sledding. The films include personal stories, spectacular scenery and adrenaline fuelled scenes from athletes and film makers at the very top of their game.
On the programme is The Warmth of Winter from director Ben Sturgulewski a six minute film focused on the quality of Japanese powder; Link Sar West from director Renan Ozturk a 30 minute film on the fourth attempt to climb a virgin peak in Pakistan; La Liste from director Guido Perrini, a 40 minute film following Jeremy Heitz, one of the best freeriders on the planet, skiing steep skiing's historical lines in his fast freeride style and finally The Great Alone from director Greg Kohs, a 70 minute film that captures the inspiring comeback story of Lance Mackey in the world's hardest sleddog race: the Iditarod.
The festival begins in London on Monday, November 7th, 2016 at Vue West End, Leicester Square, then is at the showcase in Bristol on the 8th, Vue Birrmingham on the 9th, Showcase Manchester on the 10th, Vue in Edinburgh on the 15th, and ends at Showcase Glasgow on the 17th. Doors open aroun 7pm each evening and tickets cost £16 www.mountainsonstage.com
