7 Feet of Snow in 7 Days at Whistler

There have been huge snowfalls in the Pacific Northwest area of North America which includes Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington State in the USA and British Columbia in Canada.
Whistler, pictured today after another 26cm (11 inches) of new snow overnight, has been one of the big winners reporting 210cm (7 feet) of snowfall in the last 7 days.
The only ski area reporting more snowfall is Mt Baker in Washington State to the south which holds the record for the most snowfall anywhere in the world in a single ski season, and most years it also has the most snow of any ski area on the planet too.
Mt Baker reports 84 inches - or 8 feet / 240cm in the same period and has leapt to the top of the table for deepest snow base on the continent.
All the snow comes as a relief to ski areas in the region which, until the start of this month, had missed out on early season snowfalls that have brought good conditions to much of the rest of North America.
It is also expected to keep falling at least to the weekend with another metre of snow in the forecast for some resorts, including Whistler.
The only small hiccup so far is that it is quite warm and whilst it has been dumping up top, in resort it's still a bit wet.
Whistler reports the freezing level up at 1200m with current temps -4℃ at Peak, 3℃ at Roundhouse and 0℃ in Village.
