Encamp

Encamp is an Andorran town with lift access to the Grandvalira ski domain via the Funicamp cable car. It provides compact accommodation and quick access to nearby sectors such as El Tarter and Soldeu.

 Summary

Encamp is quieter than the larger Grandvalira base villages, popular with visitors who want convenient lift access without the busiest resort atmosphere. The town sits at the foot of the mountain transport link and offers straightforward connections into the main ski domain.

The Funicamp ropeway is the principal link from town into Grandvalira; from its upper station you can reach El Tarter, Soldeu and other sectors.

The ski area of Encamp is in the Andorran Pyrenees at an altitude of 2,060m 6,759ft .

Encamp is part of the Grandvalira ski area with access to 286 marked pistes, served by a total of 66 ski lifts. In addition to the skiing in Encamp itself (63 pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Grandvalira ski resorts of Canillo, Ordino-Arcalís, Pas de la Casa / Grau Roig and Soldeu / El Tarter. Encamp is directly linked by Ski Lift to the ski areas of Pas de la Casa / Grau Roig.

The ski resort itself is at 2,060m 6,759ft , so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible. With ski lifts as high as 2,600m 8,530ft , skiing and snowboarding is assured throughout the season.

Encamp typically enjoys reliable snow conditions, with an average snow depth of around 150 cm during peak season. Regular snowfall ensures good coverage, but check J2Ski for the latest snow reports.

Ski Area Stats

Skiing

The resort is part of the Grandvalira ski area, featuring peaks that reach elevations of up to 2,640 meters. Notable pistes include the popular Canillo and Encamp sectors, with efficient lifts such as the Funicamp gondola providing excellent access to the slopes.

There are a variety of pistes to suit all levels of skier ability, from Beginner to Expert.

Snowboarding

Snowboarders based in Encamp use the Funicamp to reach Grandvalira’s park and freeride areas. The El Tarter snowpark is the best-known freestyle facility accessible from the Encamp link, while adjacent sectors offer freeride lines and groomed runs.

How to get there

 By Air

The nearest airport to Encamp is Toulouse, 130 minutes drive away.

Barcelona, Perpignan, Carcassonne and Lleida-Alguaire airports are all within three hours drive.

The easiest international access is via Barcelona El Prat or Toulouse–Blagnac airports. From either airport you can drive or take scheduled coach transfers into Andorra and onward to Encamp; winter road conditions can affect journey times.
