Snow Forecast Summary - February 28th 2008

Published : 28-Feb-2008 10:30

A definite change in the weather is in store for the next 7 to 10 days.

The unusually warm and Spring-like conditions of late are starting to give way to something a bit more seasonal. The coming weekend should be cooler than last weekend's t-shirt conditions, with widespread cloud bringing snow at altitude. The Northern alpine areas will see the best of this first band of precipitation, with an initial snow line around 2,000 metres falling to 1,500 or below by late Sunday. Snowfalls are unlikely to be huge but should be enough to freshen the pistes up nicely in many areas.

Anybody got any snow-dice?

Published : 28-Feb-2008 10:49

Interesting things happening in the snow forecast...

Looks like a fair bit of precipitation this weekend but with a freezing level in the region of 2,000 metres (boo) for most areas. Localised falls could push the snow much lower, however, as cold air comes through.

Snow Forecast Summary - February 21st 2008

Published : 21-Feb-2008 10:16

The present clear weather is set to continue through the coming weekend, with temperatures likely to peak on Saturday and take the freezing level to around 3,000 metres just about everywhere. Sun cream and t-shirts?

A good number of ski areas should see snow early in the week, however, with cooler weather taking the zero line swiftly back to 2,000 metres on Monday and snow possible down to around 1,500 metres in places.

Sunny weather will again predominate over the European Alps this week as the resident High Pressure refuses to move on. Although there will be several days of chillier weather over the coming weekend, for most areas, the zero line will generally remain between 1,500 and 2,000 metres.

Snow Forecast Summary 8th February 2008

Published : 08-Feb-2008 07:23

Looks like a week for "fair weather" skiers in Europe.

Sunny weather will predominate over the European Alps for much of this week, with the zero line likely to be around 2,000 metres in many areas. Expect things to get a little slushy lower down, although most resorts have a good base now and mid to upper slopes will continue to give great skiing under blue skies.
