More terrain will open on the Italian side of the shared Cervinia – Zermatt 'Matterhorn Glacier Paradise' ski area from tomorrow, Wednesday November 20th, it has been announced.
Zermatt's glacier ski area has been accessible again from the Italian side since October 26th, after an approximately two-month closure. About 30km of runs have been open already, one of the largest areas open in the world so far at this early part of the 24-25 season. It also has Europe's highest lift-served terrain.
Most of the open terrain has been on the Swiss side so far though, but from Wednesday there'll be skiing possible on the Italian side too.
"In anticipation of the snowfall predicted in the next hours from tomorrow, the Plan Maison, Fornet and Bontadini slopes will open to the public, with adjacent run too, joining the upper part of the snowy Ventina which has been available to skiers for a week already," a Cervinia spokesperson said.
The amount of fresh snowfall expected by the weekend continue to change, but it currently in the region of 20-40cm over the next four days.
The region's Italian-slopes only ski pass will be available again from tomorrow priced at 55 euros.
However it only allows skiing on the slopes of Breuil-Cervinia. Instead, and the more expensive international pass must be purchased to ski the full area and use Zermatt's lifts.
