A new study in to the likely effect of climate change on Bulgarian holiday destination has reported that it's good news for the country's summer destination resorts, bad news for the ski areas.
The study, published by the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water, said that the priod from spring to summer with warmer days would be longer and drier after 2020 in the southern European nation. Winter will be shorter as a result - and warmer too.

Heavy Snowfall in the Alps
Published : 27-Apr-2014 11:52
It has arrived too late for most resorts in the Alps, but heavy snowfall is blanketing much of the region this weekend with Austria and Switzerland reporting the biggest accumulations so far.
Webcam images show January like conditions with powdery pistes and Alpine rooftops once again covered with up to 20cm of snow – good news for late season skiers, probably less so for many of the locals who have moved on to mountain biking and gardening mode.

It's not over in Scotland either!
This just in from Glencoe...
Glencoe wrote:Glencoe Mountain Update - Thurs 24th AprilAll upper and mid mountain runs are still complete with a great cover of lovely spring snow.
We plan to stay open snow and weather permitting full time (Midweek and weekends) until the 5th of May, it is likely at that stage that we will will then close for the season. But large skier numbers over the next 10 days may still convince us to extend the season. We have enough snow just not enough skiers to make it commercially viable unless numbers pickup.

Spring in La Clusaz
Published : 08-Apr-2014 09:28
Just a quick heads-up on conditions here...
Have now skied three days under a mix of skies (mostly blue!) and in temperatures a little above average for the time of year.
On the Pistes - excellent for Spring
Despite the warmth, the pistes are holding up very well and most of the time you're skiing on maybe a cm of wet snow lying on the packed base - so the feel's actually pretty good.
